Who Are We?
GAMA is an R/C flying club with facilities located just north of Georgetown, TX, right off IH35 at exit 268. We consist of about eighty members (kids of all ages), are chartered with the Academy of Model Aeronautics, and our primary purpose is to pursue the fun of flying radio controlled model aircraft.
Enthusiasts Welcome!
Learning to fly model aircraft can be frustrating and expensive if pursued on your own. To this end, GAMA provides a free instruction program conducted by qualified volunteer members. This process trains the new comer safely and helps minimize frustration and costly crashes.
GAMA publishes a monthly newsletter to all members, to clubs in the immediate Austin area and nation wide, national organizations and businesses involved with the R/C hobby. It includes information on club happenings, highlights on individuals, future events and articles of interest to R/C flyers. A monthly membership meeting is usually held on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM. (Location can vary, check the events link) The meetings typically include instruction, demonstrations or other useful information on some aspect of the R/C aircraft hobby.
Flying Facility
Our flying field is located north of Georgetown, east of I35 near Walburg.
Check out the "Instructions for how to apply for GAMA membership" on the Membership Application page for specifics or come out to the field anytime when the weather is nice. You will find the members cordial and very interested in discussing our hobby. Or come to one of our monthly meetings; guests are always welcome and made to feel part of the group. It really is a fun hobby!
